Korn Ferry’s The Self-Disruptive Leader Report identifies 5 critical factors of effective leadership and discovers the state of leaders’ performances in each of the 18 main global markets by studying data collected from 150,000 leadership profiles.

Main insights from this study include:

  • Just 15% of leaders can be thought of as self-disruptors.
  • 69% of investors and analysts who is investing in winning organisations claimed that within the next 3 years, the importance of leadership to organizational performance will be emphasized more due to the demand for transformation. Most of them believed that the right leadership is crucial when making decisions on which companies to fund.
  • A majority of investors and analysts rated an excellent CEO as extremely important to a successful organization. The CEO is most highly regarded among investors in Asia and North America when most of them ranked CEO as the top driver of organizational performance.
  • 82% of investors thought that the organizations they are funding are dealing with disruptive challenges. More than half of them believed that it is now more difficult to predict risks as competition can arise from anywhere. Due to this, 66% of investors rated future vision and orientation higher than past performance when making funding decisions.
  • More than half of investors stated that traditional and legacy leadership will no longer fit for the future. 70% of them thought that short-term performance pressure makes it harder for business leaders to provide digitization, change and innovation to their organizations. More than half of them were willing to give leaders more time and would increase financial scope so that their businesses can be aligned with the future.
