The Natural HR’s HR In 2022 And Beyond – Trends, Challenges and Priorities Facing The People Profession report analyses the difficulties and most pressing matters for HR professionals in 2022. Data in this report was collected from more than 100 human resources professionals in the UK.

Some main findings from this report include:

  • Nearly 20% of HR professionals believed that their department is undervalue within their organisation.
  • More than half of males working in HR earn less than the national average compared to nearly half of females earning more than the average.
  • People who are working in HR for the real estate ad property industry are getting the highest pays. Most HR people who works in the professional services and legal or manufacturing, transport and logistics sectors also earning more than the national average.
  • Around two-third of the respondents voted improving employee engagement and experience as the most important task for them in 2022. Other priorities identified by HR professionals include employee recruitment and retention and employee health and wellbeing.
  • Talent acquisition was ranked as the most challenging matter for HR professionals in 2022. More than 60% of human resources staff claimed to have been affected by the employee shortages in the UK. Other difficulties include inefficiencies and admin; employee engagement; employee onboarding ; legislation compliance and data security.
  • Most surveyed respondents agreed that their organisations have already implemented HR technologies in their processes or are planning to do so in the coming year. Less than 10% of HR professionals reported that their companies didn’t have any HR technology used.
  • The most reported advantages of using HR technologies in their processes are reduced admin workload; paperless working and improved employee experience.
  • In 2021, human resources teams spent the most money in job advertising and employee training and development. Overtime payment; administration; strategic planning; consultants and advisory services are areas where HR teams spent the smallest amount of budget on.
