The ADPRI 2019 State of the Workforce Report provides employers with a comprehensive understanding of the hierarchical structure of organizations, pay levels, the connection between pay levels and promotions and how employers retain talents within their organizations.
Some main findings from this report include:
- Annually, 8.9% of employees will be promoted and will also receive an average wage increase of 17.4%.
- Organizations are likely to promote existing employees more than hire externally for management positions: 17.2% of managers are promoted, while 15.6% are new hires.
- There is a direct relationship between promotions and higher turnover within a team: teams that had a promotion have a higher turnover rate of 13.3% compared to a turnover rate of 12.3% in teams that no promotion had occurred.
- The turnover of the workforce varies significantly with demographic factors. Monthly turnover rates are fairly lower for older employees compared to those in younger age groups. On the other hand, there is no remarkable difference between the turnover rates for male and female workers.
