2019 Performance Management Trends – Quantum Workplace

performance management

The Quantum Workplace 2019 Performance Management Trends Report explores perceptions of performance management at top workplaces in the US. The study collects results from more than 10,000 companies, representing more than 600,000 workers.

Participants respond to the survey items using a 6-point agreement scale. These responses are then divided into 3 groups, with “Favourability” being the proportion of “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”.

Some main findings from this report include:

  • Private organizations had higher favourability than public and nonprofits organizations across all survey items but Recognition had the biggest gap of 15%.
  • Companies with less than 250 employees had higher favourability compared to other organization sizes with a large gap in Communicating Change.
  • Hourly-paid workers didn’t think that their opinions were valued as much as ones of salaried employees, with a gap of 13% in favourability.
  • The 22.8% gap in change communication suggests that executives need to communicate changes more effectively, particularly to supervisors and managers
  • While pay had the biggest gap in favorability of 13.4% among different age groups, it is also critical to be clear about performance management to younger employees
